Making time for my soul

I’m incredibly fortunate to live the life I’ve been given. It’s far from perfect, but it’s full and beautiful. There’s much to do daily — so much pulling on my attention — vying for my priorities.

It’s easy to remember my physical health, however, it’s even easier to forget the part of me that’s more important…because it’s invisible: my soul.

This year, I’ve been making a renewed effort to carve out “soul time.” This is the time I make for my soul. I find that it’s not enough to reserve my quiet time for the weekend.

Every day I slip away to replenish my soul. I prefer to do this first thing in the morning when there’s a hush in the house — a sweet stillness in the air. This is the time I use to read, pray, write or simply do absolutely nothing (which is incredibly difficult for me to do). Some days, it’s defined time while I drive, listening to uplifting music or silencing my busy thoughts to a peaceful cadence of prayer.

Here’s to taking time to fill our souls to pour from a full cup!

Graciously, Kay
